Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) Yogyakarta is preparing for its December 2025 graduation ceremony, which will be attended by more than 200 graduates. As part of the preparation, the university held a graduation rehearsal that also welcomed Minerva as an official partner for diploma verification services.
The event was attended by the Head of Academic Bureau I Drs. Wimmie Handiwidjojo, M.IT., the Head of Bureau III Mujiono, S.E., M.Sc, the graduation committee, and a representative from Minerva, Nancy Desianti, who also serves as the Head of the HRGA Department at PT Integrity Indonesia. Minerva’s presence underscores the shared commitment between UKDW and Minerva to enhance the security of academic documents and support the career success of the graduates.
Automatic diploma verification and strengthening academic document security
In his remarks, Handiwidjojo emphasized the importance of authentic academic documents in a digital era prone to forgery. “The diplomas of our graduates are equipped with security features, including holograms, designed to prevent counterfeiting attempts,” he stated.
However, document security does not stop at physical features; this is where Minerva plays a vital role. The partnership between UKDW and Minerva has been established since 2020 through the use of the Education Verification platform.
In August this year, a total of 376 UKDW graduates used the automatic online diploma verification feature, where the system directly issues a diploma verification certificate as proof of authenticity. This automatic verification not only simplifies the process for alumni, but also serves as an additional layer of security beyond physical features such as holograms.
During her presentation, Nancy provided an overview of the recruitment process and explained how diploma verification can be an important factor in enhancing alumni competitiveness in the job market.
“There are many benefits that alumni can gain from using this verification feature,” she explained. “For instance, if they wish to pursue further studies abroad, the verification certificate can be used as one of the required documents for visa applications.”
She further outlined the benefits of automatic verification for graduates such as the following:
- A supporting document when applying for jobs in addition to the diploma copy.
- Enhances credibility in the eyes of Human Resources due to the diploma having already been verified.
- Provides an advantage during the selection process and helps graduates stand out from other applicants.
- Speeds up recruitment since HR teams no longer need to conduct a verification check.
- Supports various administrative processes, such as scholarship applications or student visa submissions.
Ultimately, automatic verification helps alumni navigate the recruitment process with greater confidence while demonstrating that their academic documents are authentic and standardized.
The importance of diploma verification in the professional world
In an increasingly competitive job landscape, diploma verification has become a crucial component of pre-employment background screening. Companies conduct this process to ensure that candidates possess accurate and verifiable qualifications. Educational institutions also implement verification for postgraduate and doctoral admissions.
There are several reasons why diploma verification is a critical element.
- Ensures the quality of recruitment. Companies must confirm that candidates have the competencies required for the job.
- Interviews are not always sufficient. Many aspects of a candidate’s background cannot be uncovered through interviews alone.
- Strengthens workplace security. Invalid identities or qualifications can pose internal risks for organizations.
- Supports industry compliance. Some sectors have strict regulatory requirements especially those related to finance, healthcare, and education.
With the rise of diploma fraud in the digital era, automatic verification systems such as those provided by Minerva help reduce risks and ensure organizations hire trustworthy candidates.
Preparing graduates for recruitment
In addition to explaining the benefits of automatic verification, Nancy also equipped graduates with guidance on how to navigate the recruitment process. This information serves as essential preparation for graduates entering the workforce.
Some of the successful tips she shared include the following:
- Maintain the integrity of your CV. Provide accurate and verifiable information. Invalid data can lead to serious consequences during verification.
- Ensure reference contacts and internship experience are well documented. HR teams often conduct direct checks on reference numbers or internship institutions.
- Use social media wisely. A digital footprint often reflects one’s professionalism and can influence HR decisions.
- Avoid typographical errors. Small mistakes can create an impression of carelessness and lack of professionalism.
This understanding is expected to help UKDW graduates enter the job market with greater confidence and readiness to compete.
Minerva’s participation in the UKDW December 2025 graduation rehearsal reaffirms the company’s important role as a key partner in diploma security and career readiness support for alumni. Through automatic verification technology, Minerva helps UKDW uphold its academic reputation and ensures that graduates possess secure, valid, and professionally usable documents.
